The Unauthorized Investigator's Guide to
The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints

The Resurrection, Judgment, and Immortality

The Missionaries Will Teach...

After God reunites our bodies and spirits, we will be taken to the presence of God to be judged.  Will will have a perfect memory of all of our actions, both righteous and unrighteous.  God will show mercy upon us, but only if we have repented.  God will reward us for the things that we have done and  desired.

Everybody will be resurrected and will become immortal, never to die again.  Immortality is a free gift that God will give to everybody; both the righteous and unrighteous will be resurrected and will become immortal.  Eternal life, however, is not the same thing as immortality.  God gives the gift of eternal life only to those people who obey the gospel of Jesus Christ.  It is the ultimate state that we can achieve.  It comes through the atonement of Jesus Christ.  Another name for eternal life is exaltation.  People who receive eternal life will live in the presence of God with their families.  God and Jesus Christ enjoy the ultimate life, and the people who receive the gift of exaltation will enjoy it with them.

Some Further Thoughts...

Remembering some things about the life of God, in the first principle of the first discussion, the missionaries said, "[God] loves us.  He weeps with us when we suffer and rejoices when we do what is right."  Whenever somebody on earth suffers, God cries.  He must cry a lot.  Are the people who become like God really free from suffering?  Do they really enjoy life?
